To achieve greater good and for change to happen, we cannot stop at only offering initial support, creating networks or training victims to protect themselves; the fight needs to go further.
The HRDs are aware of this thus they wake up every day knowing what their life-long goal is: to fight impunity, to fight for social justice, to fight for rights of the victims etc. This is a fight that’s beyond one individual or group; this is something dependent on collective and sustainable action.
Advocacy is therefore an essential element of the program in order to work on the psycho-social impact of political violence and identify community actions. Not only for the sake of HRDs and the other victims of political violence but also because it will enhance the support of key stakeholders themselves, as it will contribute to the common interest of all committed parties to human rights defense.
